Diaper Bank of New Mexico Leadership

SUSAN DOORECK, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Susan’s business acumen began in New York with creation and incorporation of Dooreck Associates Ltd. She recognized the need for women residing in suburban areas to network with others and gain business skills as they prepared to enter the workforce. Expanding her business and her skills, Susan brought her motivational programs to the corporate world using determination, perseverance and “chutzpah”.

Some of her clients included Hyatt Hotels, Shlott Realtors, Century 21 and Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate companies as well as national associations and conventions. Relocating to Albuquerque in 1995 brought Susan many new beginnings - a new city, a new career as a REALTOR, sunsets that turned the Sandias pink, piercingly blue skies and life far from family and friends. Volunteering was always an integral part of Susan’s life and thus she began to help at Cuidando Los Ninos Daycare Center playing and reading stories to children of homeless families. In August of 2011, Susan read a one line blurb in the Jewish Family Service e-newsletter: The food pantry was hoping to gather 1000 disposable children’s diapers to help their clients. Susan took this to heart and in almost four months time she brought in a bit shy of 14,000 diapers from retailers, corporations, personal contacts and financial donations.

Susan said, “I was relentless knowing that my grandchildren had clean, fresh diapers that their parents could purchase”. Susan Dooreck’s passion for children and giving back to the world is what has fostered the creation of the Diaper Bank of New Mexico.

JOE LIMKE
was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota.  Tending to animals and small grains is a far cry from his work world today.
A degree in pharmacy brought Joe to Tucson, Arizona where he began a career as a pharmacist with Walgreens.  From pharmacy to Management to Store Manager……………………..5 different Walgreens stores in 10 years as a Store Manager.  The new shift for Joe as store manager necessitated many new learning curves: sales, profits, hiring employees, developing employee skills, inventory, community involvement and management of pharmacy operations.

Ten years later in 2002 Joe Limke was promoted to District Manager and with that position a move to the Land of Enchantment – Albuquerque. More responsibility, long-term planning 6-12 months into the future and all that at a much higher level than a store manager. Community Involvement is very high on Joe’s list or priorities. Interviewed for a news segment on KOB-TV/Channel 4/Albuquerque Joe said, “I realized the needs for people, young and old residing in suburban/urban areas who are in need of assistance with diapers/incontinence products.  I was asked by Susan, the Executive Director to help out and get the DIAPER BANK OF NEW MEXICO to the next level.”
